The original high-impact polyhedral dice available on the market where made by Gamescience™, back then Gamescience did not have the technology to paint the dice so they were sold unpainted. The process required to paint the dice also tended to round off the edges, however these dice which come straight out of the mold still have their sharp edges. These dice for those of you who want to have precision-edges.

In order to preserve their precise dimensions, these 'Precision Edge™' dice, are not polished when they come out of the mold. Any small surface imperfections are purely cosmetic, and do not make the dice roll unfairly. In fact, Gamescience 'Precision Edge™' dice are the fairest and most durable polyhedral dice on the market.
